Warming Winter Bath

A warming Winter Bath – great to share before climbing into bed with your partner!

* Sandalwood- 4 drops

* Myrrh – 4 drops

* Ginger – 4 drops

Chest and Sinus Oil

* 2 drops Lavender

* 2 drops Tea Tree

* 2 drops Eucalyptus

Boil a pot of water and remove from the stove. While still steaming, add 2 drops Eucalyptus, 2 drops Lavender and 2 drops Tea Tree. Cover bowl and head with towel and inhale for at least 3 minutes. KEEP EYES CLOSED.

Hair Growth. A subject that is near and dear to the hearts of many. If you’ve never been one with fine hair or watched your once thick tresses dwindle in number you may never understand the feelings of dread and frustration that can accompany the loss of your hair.

Growing up my mom always told me “A woman’s hair is her shining glory” and it’s stuck with me all these years. She was just trying to get me past that pre- teen “I-don’t-need-to-wash-my-hair-it’s-only-been- a-week-or-so” phase but even now, all these years later it’s something that rings in my ears each time I break out the shampoo (thankfully, it’s now more than once a week!).

While bald can certainly be beautiful, not all of us are ready, willing nor do we want to show off our shiny pates! For those of us who are desperately clinging to the hairs we still have left on our heads and would like to encourage more to stick around for a longer period of time, this month’s recipes have been created.

So now you’re wondering, “Can essential oils really work to help grow hair?” Well, a study was performed by Scottish researchers who had half their patients massage a blend of essential oils in Jojoba oil into their scalps before shampooing. The other half of the study group only got Jojoba oil to massage on in the same manner. After seven months 44% of the patients using essential oils had significant improvement in their Hair Growth. The control group who only used the Jojoba oil showed a 15% improvement. Check out our recipe section to find out what they used!

Scottish Hair Growth Formula

Massage this blend into your scalp and allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes before shampooing off. Better yet, do it before bed and shampoo off in the morning!

* 10 drops Rosemary (Rosemarinus officianalis)
* 10 drops Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia)
* 6 drops Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica)
* 4 drops Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)

Add oils to Jojoba in a glass or plastic bottle, shake well and massage 2 tsp into scalp. Shampoo off. Dry and style hair as usual.

Healthy Hair and Scalp Final Rinse

Keep this blend handy each time you shampoo!

* 5 drops Rosemary (Rosemarinus officianalis)
* 3 drops Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia)
* 2 drops Sage (Salvia lavandulaefolia)
* 1 litre water

Add essential oils to your container of water and shake well. Pour over head working into scalp and through the ends of your hair as a final rinse. Do not rinse out.

Dry Scalp Massage oil

Feels like your scalp had a trip to the spa!

* 10 drops Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)
* 7 drops Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia)
* 7 drops Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)
* 4 drops Bay (Laurus nobilis)
* 30 mls Jojoba oil

Gently warm Jojoba oil (double boiler or microwave) and add essential oil. Stir (or shake if in sealed container) gently to blend. Massage into clean scalp and work oil through to the ends of the hair. Wrap hair in plastic wrap and a warm towel for 20 minutes. The heat will allow the oil to better penetrate the hair shaft. Shampoo out as normal afterward.

Lemon Softness for Feet

Things You’ll Need:

* paper towel(s)

* Lemon juice

The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head often called the soft spot. It holds issues related to one’s understanding of Divinity and the intelligence of the universe. The questions ‘Who am I and why am I here?’ relate directly to the Crown Chakra. If balanced you become aware of a sense of being one with all life and the consciousness behind all things. If this Chakra is off balance you have the feeling of being disconnected from Spirit, feeling spiritually alone and a lack of belonging to the Cosmos. Natural Brass Cleaner

There are easy, good ways to clean brass without using a synthetic commercial cleaner that may have toxic ingredients.

Most commonly used kitchen cupboard or refrigerator ingredients that contain a natural acid, such as vinegar, Tobasco Sauce, ketchup, tomatoes, milk, and Lemon or Lime juice, will remove tarnish. The tarnish washes away with an acid rub or soak.

You might have to remove the lacquer cover if the brass is new. Do this by submerging the brass in boiling water with a few teaspoons each baking soda and washing soda (available in the laundry section of the supermarket). Once the lacquer has peeled off, polish dry.

Home Medicine – Daytime Cold and Flu Formula

* 2 drops Eucalyptus Oil
* 2 drops Lavender Oil
* 2 drops Peppermint Oil

Aromatherapy Treatment

When the anorexic can accept that treatment is required, aromatherapy can be highly successful. Psychotherapy or counseling should be used in conjunction with aromatherapy. The main aim of the treatment is to improve the psychological state of the anorexic. You must develop a trusting relationship if you are to make headway.

Baths

The following essential oils will help to alleviate depression, encourage optimism and improve self-esteem: Bergamot, Chamomile, Clary Sage, Frankincense, Jasmine, Lavender, Neroli, Rose and Ylang Ylang.

Bergamot can be used to help regulate the appetite. For courage try Lavender, Marjoram, Myrrh, Peppermint, Rose and Thyme are invaluable.

Constipation can be treated with Lemon, Mandarin, Marjoram, Rose and Rosemary.

Suggested formula:

2 drops Bergamot
2 drops Mandarin
2 drops Jasmine

Aroma massage

Perform aroma massage weekly. As the treatment progresses encourage the anorexic to employ some self-massage techniques. This is an excellent therapy and allows the sufferer to get in touch with his or her body and to learn to love and appreciate him or herself. It engenders a feeling of pampering and restores self-esteem and confidence.

Suggested formula:

1 drop Bergamot

1 drop Rose

Avoid Thyme if pregnant.

Diet:

To gain weight the anorexic should eat small but frequent meals of nutrient-rich foods. Fruit and vegetables will probably not seem too much of a threat to the anorexic as they are regarded as ‘slimming’ foods. Nuts and other forms of protein are required to build up the body. Supplements of Zinc help to restore the appetite and work on the psychological symptoms. Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin C, Calcium and Magnesium are also helpful.
